FLY FISHING

This is the reason why Chile is considered one of the best areas to enjoy fishing.

The quality of the species, the purity of water and powerful nature that surrounds each fishing sector speak in silence for those who love this sport.

You can practice it from the Antofagasta region to the edge of Tierra del Fuego. However Patagonia is the one with a well-earned global fame for the practice of this art. Its waters have captivated anglers from around the world to cross the planet to be photographed with a piece and then release it in the river nominated in the category "catch and release".

Some species that normally are available in Chile are the rainbow trout, from the Central Zone to the south, the brown trout from the Region of Valparaiso to the Magallanes region, the coho salmon in rivers and lakes of the Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes regions and finally, if you're lucky, you can fish chinook, or king salmon, a real monster of the Chilean waters, which lives mainly in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego .

Within a radius of 100 kilometers are several alternatives: Galletué lakes, Icalma Mariñanco, Jara and rivers Bío-Bío, Rahue, Polul and Lonquimay.

In these sectors the best parts are hiding. Lonquimay is located 156 km from Temuco, the route-Curacautín Lautaro and 186 kilometers down the road Curacautín Victoria. Valdivia: Folilco sector is ideal for fishing with dry flies and perfect for the classic fishing. The clear waters are very attractive for fishing wading. The rivers have constant hatching and large trouts, highly selective, but not easy to catch as many lures have seen over the years in the beds.

Maullín River: the only drain of Llanquihue Lake, in the heart of the Lakes' Region. Sometimes it is completely covered in its banks by vegetation, comprising forests of myrtle and other species of aquatic places. The river has a great population of healthy and competitive trouts, mainly brown trouts and a little fewer population of rainbow trouts. Sometimes you can also fish salmon or attractive farionelas. One of the great attractions of this river is the possibility of catching brown trophies without the need to travel to remote places. t is not uncommon to achieve 5 kilos fishes in the most deep river. Fishing is done mostly with large streamers and less with nymphs. Dry fly fishing can be done in the evening.

Coyhaique: The city of Coyhaique is surrounded by numerous bodies of water, most of them with excellent fishing. The fishing spots are in one hour traveling by the land.

Simpson River: Located in the Aysen area it is 40 kilometers long and is probably the best known place in the region. Internationally it is considered a true fishing paradise. Its population of brown and rainbow trout varies between 35 and 55 cm in size. The river is famous for its large hatches of caddis and mayflies. In the months of January, February and mid-March, you can see great comebacks of chinook salmon, and most of them exceed one meter in length.

Emperador Guillermo River: This river has an outrageous number of trout daily.

Ñireguao River: It has been rated by connoisseurs as "the best river for trout fishing in South America". The average size of trout is from 40 to 45 centimeters and it may even reach 60 or 70 centimeters .

Cisnes River: With over 80 miles long, it rises near the border with Argentina and empties into the Pacific Ocean. At the top there is an abundant population of brown trout. Chinook salmons come back to its waters in the months of February and March.

Paloma River: it rises in Desierto Lake and empties into Caro Lake. It has beautiful brown and rainbow trout, whose average size is between 35 and 55 centimeters.

Los Fiordos: It offers a fascinating fishing. In the area of Los Fiordos there are numerous rivers that flow into the sea where you can catch large rainbow trouts (they normally achieve 2 or 3 kilos). There are also beautiful farios.

Tierra del Fuego: The Rio Grande is considered the greatest river in the world to fish the migratory brown trout. Each year hundreds of anglers from around the world fill out the existing lodges on both sides of Chile and Argentina border. The river rises in the peat and also feeds the lakes Lynch, from Rivero and White rivers. It has a length of 220 kilometers and its waters are light brown transparent. The first half of the river runs through Chilean territory inside the huge Estancia Cameron.
