Museo
Interactivo Mirador (MIM) The MIM is the largest and most modern Chilean
cultural entertaiment complex both for the quality of its contents, for his educational
proposal based on the interactive participation of the visitor to each of the
330 exhibitions in the sciences, arts and nature.
Museo
de Taxidermia y Ciencias It has a collection of about 150 stuffed animals
created by Nibaldo Reyes.
National Museum of Natural
History It was founded on September 14, 1830 by the French scholar Claude
Gay, hired by the government of Chile for a complete study of Chile and to be
a Cabinet of Natural History, which contains the main vegetable and mineral productions
of the territory.
Museo Pedagógico de Chile Specialized
Library Science Education Museum has more than 40,000 books and texts on the philosophy
of education, educational psychology, didactics and methodology of the subjects,
anthropology, economics and sociology. It also has diaries, pamphlets and numerous
conference papers and distinguished educators. Moreover, the Photographic Archives
of the Museum has more than 6,000 images of the course of the Chilean education,
organized and cataloged.
Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino
The Museum house has a permanent exhibition called Pre-Columbian America
in the Art and traveling exhibitions that change every year. The museum has a
free guide service which can be requested by phone or email. It is opened from
Tuesday to Sunday from 10a.m. to 6 p.m. and closes on Mondays.
La
Chascona Museum It is located around Cerro San Cristóbal on Calle Fernando
Márquez de la Plata, 192 in Santiago. It was declared a National Monument in 1990.
This house was the residence of the Chilean poet, Nobel Prize for Literature,
Pablo Neruda. In 1955, Pablo Neruda and Matilde Urrutia chose this place to live.
At the house there is a significant amount of books, paintings and other objects
gathered throughout his life. Furthermore, this residence is home to the Neruda
Foundation.
Museo Colonial de San Francisco
The museum has a collection of San Francisco´s life. There are 54 canvases painted
in oils in Cuzco, between 1668 and 1684 according to figures provided by the same
paintings, commissioned by the Franciscan convent in Santiago de Chile. It is
the most valuable series of colonial art that exists in Chile and the best one
preserved in South America.
National History Museum
The current headquarters of the museum is where it was the Palace of the
Royal Court. It was built by the architect-engineer Juan José de Goycolea Zañartu.
It has a neoclassical style in brick masonry. It began to be built in 1804 and
was opened in 1808. It subsequently hosted the First National Congress (July 4,
1811), and the government house during the revolutionary period from 1812 to 1814,
until General Mariano Osorio restored Spanish authority, and reinstated the Royal
Court (from 1814 to 1817).
Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador
Allende It is located on calle Herrera with calle Compañía in Santiago.
The aim of this museum is to present the collections of assets and memorials of
the memorable President of the Republic of Chile, Salvador Allende.
